Moss and black algae ( Gloeocapsa Magma) feed on the organic materials in and on your roof. Modern shingles have limestone as a filler in the composition of the shingle. The algae, lichens and moss use the limestone as a food source. Combined or alone they quickly attack your roof and if not treated the can cause extensive damage. In the photo to the right a piece of moss was removed by simply picking it up off the roof. Notice that the roof granules have been removed by the moss.
Moss causes significant damage to the roof by removing the granules and retaining water thereby exposing the composition material of the shingle and causing the shingle to decompose.
To remove the moss, algae and lichens that grow on roofs we apply the approved detergents using our pressure free methods.
We apply the detergent evenly over the entire area to be cleaned and then let it dwell for a few minutes as it begins to gently loosen the moss and algae from the shingles.
The detergents work on contact and no power washing is necessary.
Moss, black algae and lichens instantly begin to disappear and as if by magic lift from the shingles without any damage to the shingle. In just fifteen minutes we begin to rinse using just fresh water to gently remove the dead algae and moss.
